When it comes to choosing a kitchen, there are endless options, which can mean it feels quite overwhelming when trying to decide on which one to go for. It’s important to remember though, that whether you are looking for a contemporary high-gloss one, a marble style or a classic shaker style, there’s a kitchen design out there for you

Kitchen units play a massive part in how your kitchen looks, so it is very important not to rush your decision and go for the first one you see. You need to consider the colour scheme in your kitchen, the practicality of what you’re going to need the units for and of course, budget.

Here at Katie Brown, we specialise in helping our clients choose and design the right kitchen for their home, which includes the kitchen units and cabinets they should have.

In this blog, we are going to discuss the different things you need to consider when choosing the best kitchen and how Katie Brown can help you.

Kitchen Styles

One of the main things for you to consider is the functionality of your kitchen units. A lot happens in the kitchen; cooking, eating, cleaning and entertaining, so you need to make sure you have the space to do all of these things without cluttering the room.

Shaker Kitchen

Shaker kitchen units are incredibly popular at the moment and have been for a while, typically they have simple wooden square designs with uncomplicated features. One of the main reasons shaker kitchens are so popular is due to their simplistic and classic design, they can also be adapted so easily to any taste.

A lot of people refer to shaker kitchens as being traditional, but don’t let this put you off as there are a multitude of styles which compliment a kitchen with a shaker style:

  • Contemporary/modern
  • Traditional/cottage
  • Industrial

Slab Kitchen

Slab kitchen designs do have a more modern feel but they can suit a range of environments, whether you are looking for a simple kitchen or a high end aesthetic look with vibrant colours, you are guaranteed it with a slab design.

Soft Matte Handleless White Hoxton Kitchen

We recommend you choose a matte finish and opt for the handleless cabinets as these provide low maintenance which is ideal if you have a busy lifestyle.

Freestanding Kitchen

Freestanding kitchen units are becoming even more popular recently, they are a go to if you are looking for a more relaxed approach to your kitchen design. Freestanding kitchen units are particularly good if you are wanting to protect the architectural features in your home.

Freestanding kitchens are also more common in large open-plan spaces as you can have the cabinetry placed centre stage instead of round the edges which is more common for fixed style kitchens. The biggest bonus is if you love your kitchen so much you can bring it with you if you were to move.
